This wonderful and exciting Cello Concerto is a beautiful translation of what the Brazilian composer, Claudio Santoro (1919-1989), was experiencing during his life when he composed it. It was written in 1961 while he was living away from his children in Berlin during the construction of the Berlin Wall. Santoro also incorporated Brazilian rhythms like bossa nova, forró and a jazzistic vibe into the very intense set of emotions he was feeling during that time in this piece.
