Jestin Pieper is a New York City based concert and collaborative pianist, vocal coach, organist, conductor, and educator. As a performer, Mr. Pieper has appeared in major venues across the country and abroad including guest appearances on the Discovery Channel, WNYC and WNPR and performances at Carnegie Hall, The Bruno Walter Auditorium, Manhattan School of Music, and Mannes School of Music, NYC , The Long Center and Bates Hall in Austin Texas, Harris Hall in Aspen Colorado and performances in the regions of Tuscany and Sicily in Italy.
A sought after vocal coach and collaborator, Jestin serves on faculty and staff for several companies and schools including as a Vocal Coach at Manhattan School of music, Assistant Music Director at Chelsea Opera, and Faculty PIanist The Brevard Music Festival. He has worked as a rehearsal pianist and assistant conductor for opera companies and festivals across the United State and is comfortable in a wide range of repertoire including operas by Purcell, Britten, Bizet, Bellini, Gounod, Mozart, Menotti, Puccini, Verdi, Wagner as well as living American composers including Libby Larsen, Ben Moore and Tom Cipullo. As a conductor, he made his conducting debut in 2015 with the Hellenic Orchestra at the Bruno Walter Auditorium. Since then Jestin has worked as a Conductor, Assistant Conductor and Chorus Master for many companies in NYC and the East Coast. In 2020, Jestin conducted Victor Herbert's Madeleine with VHRP to critical acclaim with one reviewer remarking: "the arrangement (evidently the composer’s own), led by Jestin Pieper, was full of delicate touches that suited the comic libretto and did not compete with the singers"
As an educator for 15 years, Mr. Pieper has extensive experience teaching students from beginners to emerging professionals and everything in between. He has given masterclasses, presentations and has done outreach programs at schools across the country. He maintains a vibrant piano studio in NYC, and was co-director of the Elmhurst community piano project before the pandemic put that on pause. He has seen several of his students achieve success including acceptance to the Metropolitan Children's Chorus, the nation's leading arts schools including Laguardia and Frank Sinatra, and Universities like The University of Texas at Austin.
Jestin is the principal organist at Holy Trinity Episcopal church in Inwood, NYC. Jestin is also in the library of congress for his transcription of Mahler’s 4th symphony which is available on IMSLP.org. He has an album, "Humoreske '' available on streaming services, and has regularly performed on live streamed recitals over the past year. Jestin is also a member of the Luminae Trio, formed in 2020, the Trio is dedicated to bringing classical music to a wider audience and shining a light on underrepresented and living composers.
Jestin received his Bachelor of Music, magna cum laude, from Lawrence University, a Master of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and a professional studies degree from Manhattan School of Music.
