Dear Music Traveler Hosts,
We hope you’re all well and hanging in there. If you are an artist or owner of a small business relying on renting your space out to generate income, rest assured that we understand your frustrations. We're all in the same boat due to COVID-19.
There is hope! Although events have been cancelled for now, the whole industry will come back and continue the same projects when everything is over. This will lead to more business for all, as everyone has to eventually practice together again. In the meantime, be safe and try to stay sane.
Let's use this time wisely!
Refresh and update your space on Music Traveler, making it more appealing to users so when bookings are back, you're ready to host. Surveys and feedback from the last two years has shown that well displayed and clean rooms have been booked a lot more than others.
This guide will take you step by step to get your room ready and looking shiny and inviting. We will also send one tip each week, emphasizing each aspect of what you can do to make your room the most attractive one on Music Traveler!
To start, let us emphasize the importance of professional photos and the impact they have. We recommend posting at least 3 pictures but 5 is the golden number.
Set the scene: Clean the instruments, tidy up and remove clutter to make your space look pleasant and inviting.
Prepare the instruments for a photo session If your room has a piano, open the lid for both the top and keyboard. A cello, double bass or violin? Take them out of their cases and show them off!
Make it bright Take photos during the day (preferably a sunny one), open the curtains and turn on all the lights to make your space as bright as possible. Avoid using flash, as this will often result in unnatural looking pictures.
Add a variety of photos Make sure to add photos of both the instruments close-up as well as with their surroundings, to help guests imagine the size and feel of the space.
Resolution matters Make sure your photos are at least 1024 by 683 pixels. To ensure your photos stand out, we recommend 1920x1080.
Take your photos in landscape format Photos in search results are all displayed in landscape format. Portrait photos will be cropped and won't showcase your space as you intended.
Don’t post pictures of yourself It might happen that the love of your life will book your room for a practice session, but unfortunately, we are not a dating website. Let's get bookings for your room, not for you 😉

Stay safe during these troubling times.
Love,
From the Music Traveler team.
